Xylem to highlight several products at AGG1

Xylem will showcase its mining solutions portfolio at Booth 1342 at AGG1 Aggregates Academy & Expo March 29-31 in Nashville, Tennessee.

Working in partnership with mining professionals to develop water management solutions, Xylem says its mining expertise boosts productivity, safety, reliability and sustainability of mine sites across North America and internationally.

“Holistic mine water management involves reviewing the efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability of every aspect of an operation’s water processes – from sourcing to dewatering to treatment and reuse – to optimize the entire system,” says Ken Albaugh, director of sales, rental and equipment at Xylem. “Every step in the mine water cycle is part of a process that can increase productivity, lower costs and, ultimately, turn mine water management from an expense into a strategic advantage. In short, we make sure our customers’ water dollars are working as hard as possible.

Xylem’s Flygt BIBO 2830 pump features Flygt’s Dura-Spin closed impeller and Flygt Spin-Out which expel abrasives away from the impeller neck and seal cavity to minimize downtime with superior wear resistance and ensure pump longevity. The pump features the BIBO look and shape that Xylem says delivers stability and robustness.

Xylem will also have on display the e-SV, an energy saving vertical multistage pump designed by Goulds Water Technology, a Xylem brand. Built with a premium-efficient motor, it’s designed to withstand mechanically aggressive and high temperature liquids, extending uptime and reducing lifecycle costs. When paired with an Aquavar IPC variable speed drive, it provides energy savings of up to 70 percent compared to fixed speed operation, according to Xylem.

Also featured will be Goulds’ VIT Short Set Lineshaft Turbine Pumps, which reduce operating costs and improve water management, Xylem says. Lineshaft vertical turbines are configured such that hydraulic components are submerged into the pumped fluid while the motor is located above ground, making it easy to access electrical components for repair or replacement. The modular design also allows for cost-effective re-bowling. Hydraulic coverage ranges from 50­–20,000 gallons per minute (gpm), with options up to 50,000 gpm and multistage configurations for high pressure solutions.

Finally, Xylem will feature its optimyze condition monitoring system, which uses predictive analysis to identify potential problems with pumps or motors before they occur, to enhance system reliability. It periodically monitors system vibration and temperature and allows everyday users to access simple-to-use monitoring tools from iOS or Android mobile devices. This enables operators to understand the current health and historical trends of assets, create maintenance reminders and generate detailed reports. As a result, preventative maintenance can be scheduled before potential issues cause downtime.

Virtual experience

Xylem is also offering a virtual mining experience to explore each of the solutions above in detail. Incorporating technical information, product features and benefits, as well as case studies, Xylem says its virtual mine shows how its portfolio and expertise helps ensure mine operators experience less production downtime, lower operating costs, enhanced performance and safety, and reduced environmental impact.
