Caterpillar offers sneak peek at ConExpo offerings

ConExpo-Con/Agg’s inaugural Media Monday event kicked off with a tour of Caterpillar’s offerings at Operator Stadium in the Festival Grounds (Booth F9127).

The company offered a sneak peek of its booth a day before the show officially opened. Stations highlighting Cat’s efforts in sustainability, technology and service were highlighted along with what the company offers customers in each area.

In the center of the Cat booth is the 10,000-sq.-ft. Operator Stadium, where the company’s Global Operator Challenge finals will take place Tuesday morning. A number of other events are scheduled in the stadium throughout the week, according to Cat.

Cat’s new 930 wheel loader, featuring an all-new cab with improved visibility, an optional 360-degree camera and more, was also on display. Cat’s Jamie Ramsey, who provided an overview of the wheel loader, says the company’s goal is to provide a uniform experience for “99 percent” of operators by bringing the technology to them.

In Cat’s sustainability station, attendees can get details on the emissions reductions provided by six models (the 120 motor grader, the 235 and 375 hydraulic excavators, the 980 XE and 988K XE wheel loaders, and the 420 XE backhoe loader). The company is also offering a look at how several of its diesel models stack up to its similar electric offerings in terms of fuel and cost savings.

A rebuilt D6T dozer, provided by San Antonio-based Mesa Equipment Co., is on display at the company’s service station. Attendees can learn about several of Cat’s technological and app-based offerings for service, including Cat Central, VisionLink and SIS2GO. Two other displays – a hose assembly stand and a look at Cat filters and fluids – highlight the company’s dealer network service.

Cat’s technology station will feature three Cat Command stations where attendees can operate machinery in Clayton, North Carolina, and Tinaja Hills, Arizona. Equipment available to operate are a 259D3 compact track loader, a 938M small wheel loader, a D3 small dozer, a 340 excavator, a D5 medium dozer and a 982M wheel loader.

According to Cat, all of the equipment available at the Cat Command stations are currently available except for the 982M, which is slated to be available in the first quarter of 2024.
